24 of 26 people found the following review helpful Amazing performance for the price, October 13, 2014 I got this so I could play WOW and a couple other games on the weekend when I'm not at home. No, this isn't a high end gaming laptop and you aren't going to run games anywhere near max settings. That said, for the price, I'm getting VERY good performance out of this. At least in WOW, it will run really well with almost everything set to high (which is amazing for an integrated GPU). Sure, you can get better performance from a laptop than this, but you have to spend $900 or more. For the price the performance of this thing is amazing. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? 26 of 30 people found the following review helpful Good for everything but games., October 17, 2014 I actually picked mine up from Fry's, as I was traveling and my laptop died and was beyond saving without some major surgery. I could have overnight shipped it from amazon and still saved money, but instant gratification has its costs and I needed it immediately. I opted for this laptop as it has the new kaveri A10 AMD APU which is a pretty capable card. No you wont be able to run the newest games on high or even medium settings but they are playable on low. I am able to run CS:GO and SC2 HOTS on near max settings so I am happy. It runs fairly quiet and does not get very hot. It is also much more power efficient, allowing it to use a small power adapter which is handy when traveling. Other good things are that it comes with 8GB of ram which is more than enough for any of your needs, even with the integrated graphics borrowing from the total. 1TB hard drive space is also good, but in my opinion it should really be standard in this day and age. Downsides are... Have yet to test the battery duration as I have no wish to start losing battery capacity. One downside is the newly designed rectangular adapter plug, leading to having to get new spares and converter cables from eBay to re-use old adapters with round plugs. As I'm primarily using it in Singapore, for some reason the factory provided adapter combines with the metallic body to give a buzzing feeling after many hours of being left powered on - what I believe is poor grounding? But when using a "Singapore-version" older adapter, that doesn't happen. Nevertheless, putting in an SSD and fitting a 2nd caddy for a Seagate Hybrid drive made for a good combination of speed and storage. My previous ASUS Llano-based laptop lasted 2.5 years before starting to act up, so let's see how this Lenovo matches up. The only cost-effective models available during my purchase were this and the Acer... Read more Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? |
